Performance Uniform Design for the Waterpark at Grand Hyatt Dubai
Designing uniforms for a waterpark environment presents a very different challenge to traditional hospitality. Heat, water, sun exposure, sunscreen, chlorine, and constant movement all place unique demands on both fabric and construction. For the waterpark at Grand Hyatt Dubai, our role was to develop a performance-led uniform system that supports safety, clarity, and comfort across multiple teams — while remaining visually consistent within the wider resort.
Waterpark environment — design begins with understanding place, movement, and conditions.Designing for a High-Exposure Environment
This is a fast-paced, highly visible setting. Staff are constantly in motion, interacting with guests, managing safety, and operating in and around water throughout the day. Uniforms needed to perform reliably when wet, dry quickly and comfortably, resist sunscreen, chlorine, and fading, and offer UV protection for prolonged outdoor wear. Every design decision was made with real-world conditions in mind.
A large-scale leisure environment demands clarity, consistency, and performance.Lifeguard Uniforms: Visibility, Protection & Movement
Lifeguard uniforms were developed with visibility and performance as the priority. We worked with performance fabrics suited to water-based roles, UV-protective textiles for long hours in direct sun, and sunscreen-resistant materials to maintain colour integrity. Sublimation printing allowed graphics and text to be embedded into the fabric rather than layered on top, keeping garments lightweight and durable in use. Extensive lab dips were used to refine colour accuracy, ensuring garments remain clear and legible in strong daylight and across different areas of the park.

Maintenance uniforms were designed to be practical, durable, and easy to wear in demanding conditions. Garments were developed to support movement and physical work, stand up to frequent laundering, and maintain a consistent, professional appearance. A restrained colour palette and robust construction ensure these uniforms work hard behind the scenes while remaining visually aligned with the wider operation.

For management teams, clarity and differentiation were key. A controlled colour system was introduced to clearly distinguish leadership roles, maintain consistency across shifts and departments, and allow flexibility within a structured uniform framework. This approach supports both guest recognition and internal organisation in a busy, open environment.

Cabana & Guest-Facing Teams
Cabana uniforms were designed to feel relaxed and appropriate to a leisure setting, without losing professionalism. Lightweight fabrics, softer silhouettes, and subtle branding details help these roles sit comfortably within the waterpark environment, while still clearly identifying staff for guests.
